Challenge

The city of Greater London has grown by over 1.5 million inhabitants in the last three decades, with the population predicted to reach 9.8 million in 2026. An expanding population leads to a larger urban landscape, which requires increased public transit capacity to move people in and out of the city centre. Some boroughs enjoy high transit connectivity, while others have sparser coverage. The purpose of this project, completed as a culminating assignment at NSCC's Centre of Geographic Sciences, was to assess areas in Greater London that are most accessible via public transit and highlight areas that would benefit from increased transit services.

(1) Methodology used to create and composite transit isochrones.

(2) Distribution of Transport for London (TfL) access points (subway stations, bus stops, etc.) per km2 by borough.
